Picture this. You are standing in a long line in supermarket and the person behind starts a conversation. During that conservation the topic of our business comes up. the person behind gets all excited saying “I have been talking to people all that offers that solution and I’ve haven’t decided to work with any of them yet. We should talk.” You hand him your business card, he gives you his. You immediately right write a short note about the converstation and where you met the person. The business card has just been used as a lead generation tool.

The standard business card has not changed much in last few decades, except for added lines for fax numbers, email and website addresses. While it may be simple, the little card is still an effective lead generation tool.

What makes the business card such an effective tool is that it gives potential customer all the information they need in one location. With that card, they know a person’s name, the type of business they have, and how to contact the person. And if the person has a website, the potential customer also has access to the person’s products or services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Each time the person sees the business owners’ card, they will be reminded about the business and may be prompted to buy something or tell a friend about the business.

You can increase the chances of people hanging onto your cards by by adding to back of the card a magnet, or a calendar of important dates or just lines to make notes on.

Of course, a business card cannot work if it is not being used. A business card needs to get into the hands of a potential customer for it to be effective. One simple way to do this is to keep some business cards with you at all times and speaking to anyone that may be interested in your products and services give them two business cards. One to keep and one to pass on to someone they know that may also be interested in your services. Another way is to Enclose a business card in all correspondence, even when paying bills and favorite is to leave a few on the table in hotel business centers when traveling.
